We were born to Create value for customers now and into the future

The team at ProcuSports has a combined total of over 10,000 Road Cycling race days spanning the last 30 years, and is ably led by Matt Wilson and Ben Kersten. Together they  oversee, coordinate and implement innovative ways to deliver value to customers through successful cycling events.

Matt Wilson

Director

Matt signed his first professional cycling contract in 2001 with top French WorldTour Team la Française des Jeux. During his 11 years at the top of world cycling, he built a reputation as one of the sport’s most trusted domestiques and leaders, and a specialist in the one-day Belgian Classics and longer Tours.

He helped teammates to multiple World Cup, Grand Tour and Tour de France wins including a Green Jersey in 2003 with team mate Baden Cooke as well as personally winning the 2004 Australian Road Cycling Championships and the 2007 Herald Sun Tour.

Due to the reputation he garnered over a decade in the pro peloton, Matt was offered a position as a Sports Director with the newly created WorldTour Team Orica-GreenEDGE (now Mitchelton-Scott), when he retired from racing in 2012. Since then he has continued to lead some of the best talent in Australia and around the world.

In 2017, he founded the Australian Cycling Academy (ACA), a not-for-profit cycling development program for men and women based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Over the past 3 years, the ACA has grown into one of the leading development teams in the country with 7 staff and 21 riders.

Ben Kersten

Director

Ben Kersten is one of Australia’s most successful all-round track cyclists, earning an impressive list of titles and records. He won gold in seven different track events. In his career, Kersten won more than thirty Australian National titles, two World Cup titles, and two World titles. He was UCI World Cup Champion, held two Junior World Records and was a two-time Australian Cyclist of the Year. Ben also won Gold in the 1 KM Time Trial at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. He then made the move to road racing where he won the USA Pro title in his first year on the road. After retiring from professional cycling in 2012, Kersten began working as a director with young Australian development teams, before taking up the role as head road coach at the NSW Institute of Sport, a position he held for the previous 5 years before co-founding the ACA in 2017.

Henk Vogels

With 17 years on the World Tour circuit, Henk is one of the most experienced cycling professionals in Australia. In his long career, Henk won 12 top UCI ranked events including the Australian national road race title in 1999 and podiums in Classics Gent Wevelgem
and Paris-Tours. Henk retired from competition at the end of the 2008 season and was subsequently appointed Sports Director of the Fly V-Successful Living team and also for the Drapac Pro Cycling Team in 2014.

Henk has also work as an analyst and commentator for SBS for Australian Television during cycling race coverage, including the Tour de France.

Stu Shaw ​

Stu Shaw has been immersed in elite sport his entire life and his path to cycling was unusual. A schoolboy Rugby State Captain, he crossed to professional triathlon and won medals at two separate World titles and completed three lronman races. He then switched to cycling in 2005. His diverse knowledge of high-performance sport and over 12 Years in continental and professional continental cycling teams has given him a unique perspective on athletic development.

Sally Prowd

Sally joined the ProcuSports team in 2018 and oversees the team’s media, marketing and digital channels. With a background in fashion, luxury brands and events, Sally brings over 15 years of experience in media, communications and marketing, with a specialty in e-commerce, digital and social strategy.

Rory O'Neil

Rory is a young, dynamic, professional videographer and student at the University of the Sunshine Coast. 

He has earned himself a great reputation over the past three years and has a growing client base including the ACA, USC and USC international.

Dave Manton

Dave has over 10 years’ experience as a head bicycle mechanic in Continental Pro Cycling Teams at NSWIS and the Australian Cycling Academy.

Aaron brings over 20 years’ experience working with national and international brands in the sport, leisure, tourism and events industry. He is an expert in building high value quality stakeholder relationships in government, industry, business, media and community.
